An internship agreement is free when it comes from your school. Without a school, you have to go through a training course: here's what it costs and what's included.

If you're enrolled in a school or university, your internship agreement is issued by your institution at no specific cost. Without a school, you need to go through a training provider: at EDU Business Institute, enrolment costs €299, including a 200-hour online course and the agreement, payable in 3 instalments with Klarna.

It's one of the first questions we get asked, and it deserves a clear answer with no hidden small print. Here's what you pay, what you get, and what happens if things don't go to plan.

Why can an internship agreement cost money?

An agreement isn't sold on its own. The French Education Code (article L124-1) states that an internship must be part of a training pathway, with tasks linked to an educational project. So an agreement is always tied to a course.

When you're a student, that pathway is your degree programme: the agreement is one of your institution's services. When you're not (you've graduated, you're changing careers, you're looking for work), you need a new educational framework. That framework, the course and the support that comes with it, is what has a cost. To see which situations this applies to, read our article Internship agreements for adults.

Be wary of websites offering an "agreement only" for a few euros, with no course: this kind of document is very likely to be turned down by the company.

What does the €299 fee at EDU Business Institute include?

There's one price, whichever course you choose. It includes:

  • a 200-hour online course, chosen from 9 subjects (marketing and communication, human resources, banking and finance management, IT and AI, fashion and luxury, real estate strategy and architecture, international law, journalism, audiovisual), open to all profiles;
  • access to the learning platform, with content you can follow at your own pace;
  • the internship agreement, for an internship of up to 6 months, prepared within 24 to 48 business hours once your file is complete;
  • administrative support: checking your file, preparing the document, handling signatures.

There are no extra enrolment fees.

How to compare with other options

If you're comparing several providers, look beyond the advertised price. Ask yourself a few simple questions:

  • Is there a real course behind the agreement? Number of hours, content, access to a platform.
  • Is the turnaround time clearly stated, and from when does it start?
  • What happens if the company says no? A written refund policy with clear conditions is worth more than a verbal promise.
  • Are the terms and conditions available before you pay?

A very low price with no identifiable course, or a promise of "100%" acceptance, should set off alarm bells: no agreement can be automatically accepted by every company.

Can you pay in instalments?

Yes. You can pay in 3 instalments with Klarna. Payments follow Klarna's schedule. You can also pay in one go by bank card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

A typical case: Clara, who is changing careers, prefers to spread the cost over three months. She picks Klarna at checkout, gets access to her course the next day, and receives her agreement two business days after sending her internship details.

What if my internship lasts less than 6 months?

This is an important point: one enrolment covers up to 6 months of internship in total. If your first internship ends after 3 months, you can get a new agreement free of charge for the remaining 3 months, for example with another company.

Beyond 6 months in total, you'll need to enrol again. This limit also matches the legal framework: an internship can't exceed 6 months with the same host organisation per academic year (article L124-5).

How much is the priority option?

The VIP Service gets you your agreement within two business hours, if you request it on a business day (Monday to Friday) between 9 am and 7 pm, with a complete file. It costs €29 on top of the standard price, is non-refundable and isn't covered by the refund policy.

Good to know before choosing it: it can't be refunded once the agreement has been issued, and it isn't covered by the refund policy. It's mainly useful when your internship starts in the next few days. We explain when it's worth it in our article How to get an internship agreement quickly.

What if the company turns the agreement down?

A company is free to set its own internal rules, and some only accept agreements from certain schools. That's why we offer our refund policy:

  • if the company turns your agreement down, €250 is refunded to you;
  • €49 in application fees is kept (it covers the online course part);
  • the request must be made within one month of receiving the agreement;
  • you must provide the company's written refusal, with its reasons and the contact details of the person in charge.

The VIP Service fee, if you chose it, is not refunded. The full conditions are set out in our terms of sale.

What other costs should you plan for around the internship?

The price of the agreement isn't the only budget to plan for:

  • transport and meals: depending on the company, there may be perks (meal vouchers, partial reimbursement of travel costs);
  • accommodation, if the internship is far from home;
  • equipment, if the internship is partly remote.

On the other hand, after two months on site, the company must pay you a monthly stipend (article L124-6). The legal minimum changes over time: check it with the simulator on service-public.fr. You'll find more details in our article Intern rights.

FAQ: internship agreement pricing

Does the price depend on the course you choose?

No. The price is the same for all 9 courses: €299, course and agreement included.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind about the course?

Your choice of subject is final. You do, however, have the legal right of withdrawal for consumers, under the conditions set out in our terms of sale. Read them before starting the course.

Do I have to pay again if I change my internship dates?

No. A change of dates or tasks is handled through an amendment, with no new enrolment, as long as you stay within the 6-month total limit.

Can the invoice be made out to the company?

The order is placed by you. For any specific invoicing request, contact our team before paying.
